Good Friends offers limited monetary assistance to low-income families who are residents of Mecklenburg County. Examples of family needs include: evictions, utility disconnects, used appliances, appliance repair, medications, medical equipment, and other miscellaneous needs.
Social workers and case managers from the Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services (DSS) and over 35 other non-profit agencies in Mecklenburg County work with families to make referrals for monetary assistance through Good Friends. These referrals are administered through our Distributions Coordinator, Polly Needham.
As Good Friends funds may not meet the full amount needed by families, all are encouraged to first apply with Crisis Assistance Ministry, 500 Spratt Street, Charlotte, NC 28206 (704-333-4804) to determine if they would qualify for funding through their housing and utility programs.
Families needing additional assistance should call their social worker or their case manager. Families who do not have a case manager or social worker are should call Polly Needham in our Distributions Office at 704-820-6008.
